On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons has placed a prediction for Michigan to land four-star EDGE Darien Mayo, the No. 89 overall player in the country and second-best edge rusher nationally per On3. Mayo has a top six of U-M, Clemson, Maryland, Ohio State, South Carolina and USC. But according to Simmons, the “other five are chasing Michigan.”
Michigan baseball and Iowa were tied up at 1-1 heading into the fifth inning. The Wolverines stranded the bases loaded in the top half of the frame. Then, starting pitcher Connor O’Halloran had two outs with one runner on base, before the Hawkeyes scored six runs on four hits, including a grand slam, to take a 7-1 lead. It snowballed from there, with the Hawkeyes winning 13-3. U-M now faces elimination in Wednesday’s game against the Fighting Illini.
Michigan junior quarterback J.J. McCarthy led with nation with 13.9 yards per attempt on play action passes in 2022. Nine of his 22 touchdown passes came in that setting, while only 1 of his 5 interceptions were on that concept.
Quote Of The Day
“Obviously, Michigan wants Brian and they’ve stayed committed to recruiting him. But the people who have come through this door, they’ve been real down-to-earth people. I tell this story all the time. The first time that I met Coach Clink, we sat in the office and then when I went outside, he followed me out to the track. He ended up talking to 10 players on our team. From the guy who had a shot at Michigan to the guy who may not ever play for us. Right then and there, with Clink being a Youngstown guy, he understood the impact he had on the kids just by hanging out. As one of the guys, everyone felt close to him. He also continued that on every visit.”
