Michigan football scholarship chart: Jan. 6, 2023
The offseason is in full swing for Michigan Wolverines football, and roster moves are happening fast and furious. It’s expected to be an interesting several months until the Maize and Blue kick off the 2023 season, after winning their second consecutive Big Ten title and appearing in another College Football Playoff.
Michigan has seen nine players transfer out of the program and seven players sign with the Wolverines since the Dec. 5 open to the transfer portal. Others have stated their intention to stay with the program or leave for the NFL Draft. More decisions will come in the next couple weeks, before the Jan. 16 deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft.
As of Jan. 6, 2023, we project that Michigan is at 104 scholarships, well over the limit of 85. However, the program does not update the scholarship statuses of any player after they sign their letters of intent, so this is indeed a projection.
TheWolverine.com has updated our Michigan football scholarship chart, and will continue to throughout the offseason. It’s important to note that, while we may expect certain players to depart, they’ll be included in the chart until they officially do so.

Michigan’s seven transfer additions in early signing period
Head coach Jim Harbaugh and Co. landed tight end AJ Barner (Indiana), quarterback Jack Tuttle (Indiana), offensive tackle LaDarius Henderson (Arizona State), linebacker Ernest Hausmann (Nebraska), offensive tackle Myles Hinton (Stanford), EDGE Josaiah Stewart (Coastal Carolina) and offensive center Drake Nugent (Nebraska).
U-M only stated that the players will enroll at the school ahead of the 2023 season, but some or all will be in Ann Arbor for the second semester of this academic year. Both Henderson and Hausmann have told TheWolverine.com that they will arrive for classes and football activities in January.
