Moore earned his first win as a head coach. He discussed the experience of leading the team, but later said that he didn’t get a chance to take in the moment.

“Being the head coach …. it was exciting,” the Michigan assistant said. “We’ve got a great staff, so that helped a lot. The guys were extremely supportive, and obviously our players were, also.

“I didn’t [take a moment]. Cause to me it wasn’t really about me. It was more on the players to play as hard as they can and go win for Michigan. I didn’t really think about it as something for me and an opportunity for me. I just wanted to make sure we put us in the right position to win the football game.”

Michigan had 3 turnovers in the first half and only led 14-6 at the break, despite being favored to win by 40.5 points coming in. Moore discussed the woes.

“The first drive was really successful on the ground, trying to stay balanced with everything,” Moore said of Michigan’s strong start with a 4-play touchdown drive before the mistakes ensued. “The second drive we drive all the way down there again and we’re not spaced up, and then we have a pick. So that all equates to it. It wasn’t a bad throw. We weren’t spaced up on the outside, so that equated to bringing the corner in there and throwing a pick.”

McCarthy threw 3 interceptions, after two great games to open the season. The 3-pick night will be a learning experience, Moore explained.

“Get the ball again, keep it moving, and just a bad read,” Moore said of the Michigan offense. “So, things that we’ve got to clean up; got to be better at. Thought we ran the ball better. I thought we asserted ourselves at the line of scrimmage better today. Backs ran extremely hard, extremely physical, so we’ve got to continue to build on that.”
