Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Michigan landed the commitment of 2025 in-state linebacker Bobby Kanka Tuesday.
From The Wolverine’s EJ Holland:
The news comes on the heels of the program’s annual BBQ at The Big House this weekend when the in-stater returned to campus. Since Kanka earned an offer from the Wolverines in March of last year, his visits to Ann Arbor have hit the double-digit mark.
Kanka is the first recruiting win for defensive line coach Mike Elston in the 2025 cycle.
“One reason why I love Coach Elston is that he’s not a yeller,” Kanka previously told The Wolverine. “Some coaches are short-tempered but he coaches first which is very important to me. If you don’t listen, it obviously escalates a little bit but that’s why you have to listen the first time (laughs). But it was awesome to see him coach like that. Being an instructor and not a yeller.”
Michigan football will hold its first fall camp practice today.
Michigan senior running back Blake Corum discussed NIL at Big Ten Media Days, and lauded the Wolverines’ strategy of not using it as a recruiting inducement.
“If you come here and if you’re successful, you have a good chance of making a good amount of money,” he emphasized. “NIL doesn’t matter at Michigan. That’s why we’re not out here paying high school athletes. You have to come here, put in the work. You’ll reap what you sow.”

“Working on my range and just getting stronger. I feel like I got stronger — mentally, I got stronger, as well. I’ve just been here, locked in. I went home for a couple weeks, but it’s right back here, locked in. I’ve just been on the silent grind.”
