Newsstand: Minnesota Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson on J.J. McCarthy — 'He's been incredible'
Tweets Of The Day
Former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set to battle for the Minnesota Vikings’ starting quarterback job during training camp, which begins later this month. Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson joined the ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’ podcast and discussed how he and other teammates have taken to McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick this spring. McCarthy is tied as the highest drafted Michigan quarterback of all time, after leading the Wolverines to a 15-0 season that culminated with the national championship.
“He’s been incredible,” Hockenson said. “He’s grinding in the film room, he’s grinding in the classroom. He’s a baller on the field, obviously, but to have a guy — especially a rookie — you come into a facility, into the league, usually you shut your mouth and you go to work, and that’s exactly what he did. He’s earned the respect of a lot of guys in there.
“Obviously, we have Sam Darnold, too, who’s a baller and can play the game at a really high level, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens with those two. But I’m excited with J.J. on our team. I mean, he’s a leader. He did that at Michigan, and I’m sure it’ll carry over to the league just as well.”

Michigan tight end recruiting update from The Wolverine’s EJ Holland:
Quote Of The Day
“His biggest strength is his ability to run extremely fast vertically. He’s able to make plays when the ball is thrown to him down the field. Because he’s such a threat in the vertical game, he’s able to catch a lot of the short stuff. Once he catches the ball in the open field, he can make plays from anywhere.”
