Newsstand: Tom Brady played a role in Michigan landing five-star+ QB Bryce Underwood
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan landed Belleville (Mich.) High five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood this week. A report from CBS revealed after the fact that former Michigan signal-caller and NFL legend Tom Brady helped play a role in reeling in Underwood, building a relationship with him over a number of conversations.
And it was all the culmination of a months-long push by the Wolverines to flip the local five-star from LSU, where he’d been committed since January. And on top of a lucrative reported NIL package — north of $10 million — the Wolverines leaned on a favored son, Tom Brady, to seal the deal, according to a report from CBS Sports.
Brady and Underwood first spoke over FaceTime weeks ago and a relationship blossomed from there, with Brady offering to be an ongoing resource for the young quarterback.
Brady played at Michigan in the late 1990s and famously climbed up the depth chart to become the starter and led the Wolverines to an Orange Bowl victory to cap the 1999 season. He’d go on to win seven Super Bowls during his NFL career.
Michigan hockey picked up a 6-5 victory over Penn State Friday night in State College. The Wolverines and Nittany Lions will face off again Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on B1G+.
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was on the road to check out Mineral (Va.) Louisa County four-star running back Savion Hiter, the No. 18 overall recruit in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Quote Of The Day
“Senior year has been great. I came back to play with my little brother James Johnson, Class of 2028 center and nose guard. I’ve been super blessed to not having any major injuries and being able to play every single game this year I thank God for that. Health is wealth.”
