Casula has taken over as Michigan’s play caller for the bowl game, after serving as just tight ends coach all year. Kirk Campbell was previously the offensive coordinator, but he was let go following the team’s 13-10 win over Ohio State to cap off the regular season.

“It’s obviously been different than the time I spent here previously and this past season,” Casula said of the new role. “Obviously, not at this scale and not at a place like this, but I’ve done this job before. So the difference is about managing your time, making sure you’re organized, structured for what we need to accomplish.

“So it’s been different, for sure, but it’s something that I’ve experienced at other places in the past, something I’m comfortable with doing and have done. So it’s been different, but it’s been good. It’s been great. It’s been something that I’m honored to be in the circumstances that I’m in. It’s never the way you want to be in those shoes, but it’s been great.”

Casula was asked what style of offense Michigan will run, given that Casula is a temporary replacement.

“Well, Michigan’s offense is Michigan’s offense. Relative to our roster, the play caller, kinda where we were as a program, the offense — the bones of the offense has been the same for a while now. But every game, every roster, every group of dudes that are available and playing kinda dictate the approach that you take. We’ve just been really focused.”
