Newsstand: Video from Michigan football summer workouts

Tweets Of The Day
The Michigan football Twitter account posted clips from the Wolverines’ summer workouts ahead of the 2023 season. Fall camp is expected to start August 1 and the first game against East Carolina is set for Sept. 2 at The Big House. Michigan is seeking its third consecutive Big Ten championship.
Michigan wing Jett Howard was drafted by the Orlando Magic No. 11 overall Thursday night, and by the time he sat down for his press conference, his former teammate, U-M guard Kobe Bufkin, was picked by the Atlanta Hawks No. 15 overall. Howard was emotional to see his former teammate selected and achieve his dream at the same time.
With both Bufkin and Howard going in the first round, Michigan now has 31 first-round picks throughout history. That ranks sixth among all schools.

Michigan has had more than one selection in four of the last five and six of the last 11 drafts.
That marked the fifth time in history that Michigan has had multiple first-rounders, with 2014 (Nik Stauskas and Mitch McGary), 2013 (Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr.), 1994 (Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose) and 1990 (Rumeal Robinson, Loy Vaught and Terry Mills) being the other occurrences. It was the first time the Wolverines had multiple top-15 choices since 1994, 29 years ago, when Howard went No. 5 and Rose was taken at No. 13.

Quote Of The Day
“I love the hometown heroes. I love the fact that a school of the caliber of Michigan is recruiting here. These kids are opening the gates for them to come back. They are paving the way for Illinois. I love it. It gives others an opportunity to be looked at and possibly play for the University of Michigan in the Big Ten. It’s awesome. For I’Marion to get the opportunity to play in front of 110,000-plus people, I’m just speechless. I’m excited. It means the world to know that all his hard work was noticed by a place like Michigan.”
