Michigan Wolverines football is doing battle with the Colorado State Rams at The Big House to open the 2022 season. The Maize and Blue are 30.5-point favorites with the over/under set at 62 points.

• Final score — Michigan beats Colorado State, 51-7.

• 4Q 1:43 — Michigan went for it on 4th and goal from the 4-yard line — and freshman quarterback Alex Orji, who’s played a few spot snaps today, punched it on after keeping on a read-option. That extends the Wolverines’ advantage to 51-7 after the made extra point by Jake Moody.

• 4Q 8:59 — CSU is finally on the board, with quarterback Clay Millen throwing a 34-yard deep ball touchdown to wideout Tory Horton. Michigan freshman cornerback Will Johnson was on the coverage. That makes it 44-7.

• 4Q 14:12 — Michigan sophomore running back Donovan Edwards rushed up the middle for 12 yards to get the ball to the 1-yard line, before punching it in over right guard on the next play. That extended the Maize and Blue lead to 44-0.

• End of the third quarter — Michigan has a 37-0 lead. The Wolverines, quarterbacked by J.J. McCarthy, are driving and have a 3rd and 5 on the CSU 20-yard line.

• 3Q 2:33 — CSU turns it over on downs after a Michigan sack by Jaylen Harrell and Mazi Smith. The Maize and Blue take over on their own 42-yard line.

• 3Q 6:08 — Sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy entered the game, and on his second snap of the series he ran around the left end for a 20-yard touchdown. That makes it 37-0.

• 3Q 7:03 — Michigan picks up a 4th and 1 with sophomore running back Donovan Edwards up the middle. The Wolverines are driving — 1st and 10 at the CSU 38-yard line. Cade McNamara remains at quarterback. He started the contest; sophomore J.J. McCarthy came in for one play in the second quarter.

• 3Q 12:12 — Michigan forces a sack fumble on CSU quarterback Clay Millen (forced by Mike Morris) on 4th and 7. Senior cornerback DJ Turner picked it up and ran out wide right, before making a move on the last defender to come free and find his way into the end zone. Michigan leads, 30-0.

• 3Q 15:00 — Jake Moody’s kick goes into the end zone for a touchback, and Colorado State starts on its own 25-yard line to begin the half.

• End of the first half — Michigan leads CSU, 23-0 at halftime.

• 2Q 0:11 — Jake Moody’s 34-yard field goal is good, making the score Michigan 23, CSU 0. The Wolverines drove down quickly, thanks to a 22-yard pitch and catch from senior quarterback Cade McNamara to senior tight end Erick All. Michigan has kicked and made three red-zone field goals on the day, with the offense failing to convert with six points.

• 2Q 0:49 — Michigan takes over at the CSU 47-yard line after the Rams went for 4th down and didn’t get it. The Wolverines had two sacks on the last Rams drive — one by graduate linebacker Michael Barrett (the third of his career) and the other by junior safety R.J. Moten (his first career sack).

• 2Q 5:25 — Michigan junior running back Blake Corum runs it right for a 7-yard touchdown to extend the Wolverines’ lead to 20-0 (after the Jake Moody extra point).

• 2Q 9:20 — CSU with another three-and-out, and the punt only went for 38 yards. Michigan takes over on the CSU 48-yard line.

• 2Q 10:45 — Michigan punter Brad Robbins boots it away for 43 yards with no return. Colorado State takes over on its own 16-yard line.

• 2Q 14:48 — Jake Moody’s 26-yard field goal is good, and Michigan takes a 13-0 edge early in the second quarter.

• 2Q 15:00 — Michigan’s long drive has continued all the way down to the 8-yard line. The Wolverines face a 3rd and 8 to start the second stanza.

• End of 1st — Michigan has a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

• 1Q 6:36 — Michigan forces another three-and-out and will take over at its own 21-yard line after the CSU punt.

• 1Q 8:06 — Jake Moody’s 31-yard field goal is good. Michigan now has a 10-0 lead after a 55-second drive.

• 1Q 8:11 — Michigan senior tight end Erick All fell down running his route, and Cade McNamara’s pass was off target anyway and appeared to be intercepted. That was the play on the field, but after review it was overturned. The ball hit the ground, the official announced. That brings up 4th and 10 for the Maize and Blue at the CSU 13-yard line.

• 1Q 9:01 — Colorado State quarterback Clay Millen’s pass was intercepted by Michigan sophomore safety Rod Moore. He returned it to the Rams’ 13-yard line, where U-M takes over.

• 1Q 9:49 — Senior quarterback Cade McNamara throws a flat pass to junior wide receiver Roman Wilson, who weaved his way through the Rams’ defense and took it the distance for a 61-yard score. Michigan leads Colorado State, 7-0.

• 1Q 10:27 — Colorado State quarterback Clay Millen was sacked by Michigan senior defensive back Mike Sainristil on third down (his first career sack), forcing a punt. U-M takes over at its own 20-yard line after a 33-yard punt that was downed.

• 1Q 14:04 — Michigan went three-and-out after two incompletions on second and third down. Colorado State takes over at its 20-yard line.

• 1Q 15:00 – Colorado State’s line-drive kick went into the end zone for a touchback. Michigan takes over at its own 25-yard line.

• Colorado State has won the toss and will defer to the second half. Michigan will receive and drive toward the south end zone.

• The Michigan team has taken the field for Saturday’s game, running out of the tunnel for the first time this season.
