Michigan Wolverines football is doing battle with the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors at The Big House to open the 2022 season. Kickoff was at 9 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network after a lightning delay.

• Hawai’i got all the way down to the 2-yard line, but the Michigan backup defense made a stop on 4th down. The Wolverines ran out the clock and won the game, 56-10.

• 4Q 7:59 — Isaiah Gash runs for 38 yards to the right for a touchdown, giving the Maize and Blue a 55-10 lead.

• 4Q 11:27 — Hawai’i running back Tylan Hines broke a huge run off the right side, going 54 yards for the Rainbow Warriors’ first score of the game.

• 4Q 14:54 — On the first play of the 4th quarter, freshman running back CJ Stokes ran in a 15-yard touchdown. Michigan has a 49-3 advantage.

• End of the 3rd quarter: Michigan 42, Hawai’i 3. The Wolverines are driving, and have the ball at the Rainbow Warrior 15-yard line. Quarterback Davis Warren found tight end Max Bredeson for a 56-yard gain to get Michigan in scoring position.

• 3Q 3:51 — Hawai’i makes a 26-yard field goal after a 12-play, 45-yard scoring drive. The Wolverines will not notch a shutout for the 1st time since 2015.

• 3Q 9:41 — Michigan was forced to punt again, ad Hawai’i starts out on its own 46-yard line.

• 3Q 12:47 — Michigan started the 3rd quarter with Cade McNamara at quarterback. The Wolverines went 3-and-out after a failed 3rd down run, though, and punted it away.

• End of the 1st half: Michigan leads 42-0 after Hawai’i runs out the clock.

• 2Q 1:06 — J.J. McCarthy reentered the game at quarterback for Michigan, and he led another scoring drive. He found Cornelius Johnson for a 17-yard touchdown to make it a 42-0 game.

• 2Q 3:18 — Cade McNamara entered the game at quarterback, but Michigan was forced to punt after he was sacked on 3rd down. McNamara completed 2 passes for 11 yards on the drive.

• 2Q 6:22 — Michigan takes over on its own 34-yard line after a minus-2 yard return by A.J. Henning.

• 2Q 8:38 — Donovan Edwards got Michigan down to the 1-yard line on a 33-yard connection with J.J. McCarthy. Edwards then ran it in for a touchdown, giving the Wolverines a 35-0 lead.

• 2Q 9:49 — Mike Morris with a 3rd-down sack, forcing Hawai’i to punt. Michigan takes over on its own 40-yard line.

• 2Q 12:05 — After a 54-yard deep ball to Cornelius Johnson down to the Hawai’i 13-yard line, J.J. McCarthy hit Ronnie Bell over the middle for another Michigan touchdown. The Wolverines are up 27-0.

• 2Q 14:40 — After another Hawai’i punt, Michigan takes over on its own 10-yard line. Left guard Trevor Keegan was out for a few snaps in the first quarter but was back last drive and remains on the field.

• End of the 1st quarter: Michigan 21, Hawai’i 0

• 1Q 0:31 — Michigan was forced to punt for the 1st time tonight, with Brad Robbins booting it away. Hawai’i takes over at its own 48-yard line after the fair catch.

• 1Q 2:08 — Michigan begins its drive on the 6-yard line after a Hawai’i punt.

• 1Q 4:23 — Roman Wilson scores his second touchdown of the day, this time on an end-around run. Wilson found pay dirt from 21 yards out. Michigan leads, 21-0.

• 1Q 5:44 — Hawai’i gains its 1st, 1st down of the game, but the Rainbow Warriors are still forced to punt. A.J. Henning returned it 36 yards to the Hawai’i 42-yard line, where Michigan takes over.

• 1Q 7:36 — Running back Blake Corum went over the top for a 1-yard touchdown to put the Wolverines up 14-0 after the Jake Moody extra point. The Maize and Blue went 77 yards in 7 plays.

• 1Q 11:11 — Michigan’s defense forces another 3-and-out. Through 2 drives, Hawai’i has amassed just 5 yards.

• 1Q 12:48 — After the Wolverines’ defense forced a 3-and-out, J.J. McCarthy hits wideout Roman Wilson wide open over the middle for a 42-yard touchdown. Michigan leads, 7-0.

• Hawai’i has won the toss and chosen to receive. Michigan will kick to the Rainbow Warriors.

• The Michigan team has taken the field for the 2nd time this season.

U-M (No. 6 coaches/No. 4 AP) has won all three previous match-ups, earning victories at Aloha Stadium in Hawai’i in 1986 and 1998, and claiming a 63-3 victory at Michigan Stadium to open the 2016 season. Head coach Jim Harbaugh led the No. 4 Wolverines to a 27-10 win in 1986, and the 1998 team posted a 48-17 win during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. … U-M is 40-28 all time in night games, including a 9-2 mark in Michigan Stadium.
