• 4Q, 0:01 — Chase Brown catches and runs for 14 yards down to the Illinois 39-yard line. There is one second left with Illinois calling its final timeout. This is the final play of regulation coming up.
• 4Q, 0:09 — Michigan got it down into Jake Moody range and he hit a 35-yard field goal to take a 19-17 lead with nine seconds left.
• 4Q, 2:22 — Michigan defense answers the bell and forces a punt. The offense gets the ball back near midfield at their own 48-yard line.
• 4Q, 3:14 — McCarthy threw to running back Isaiah Gash, who dropped the pass, when he had tight end Colston Loveland open near the end zone on second down. On the next play, Loveland was open again, but McCarthy overthrew him. The Wolverines sent Jake Moody on for a good 33-yard field goal. Illinois holds a 17-16 lead.
• 4Q, 4:32 — Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy found Roman Wilson on an out-breaking route for a gain of 9 yards on 4th and 4. That moved the chains and kept Michigan’s comeback chances very much alive. They have 1st and 10 on the Illinois 14-yard line.
• 4Q, 5:56 — On 3rd and long, J.J. McCarthy dropped the snap, picked it up, rolled to his right and found a wide-open Cornelius Johnson for an 11-yard gain and the first down — a potentially huge play in deciding the outcome of the game. First and 10 for Michigan on the Illinois 29-yard line.
• 4Q, 8:06 — Michigan cornerback DJ Turner with a huge tackle on Tommy DeVito on fourth down short of the sticks. The Wolverines take over on their own 31-yard line down 17-13.
• 4Q, 12:31 — Michigan picked up one first down but stalled out again. Thanks to Ronnie Bell’s 40-yard punt return, the Wolverines were in field goal range for Jake Moody to make a 49-yarder and get the Maize and Blue within 4 points. It’s now 17-13, Illinois.
• 4Q, 14:34 — Illinois has a bad snap that was fumbled and recovered for a loss of yards on third down. The Illini punted and Ronnie Bell returned it 40 yards to the Illinois 38-yard line to get the momentum back.
• End of the third quarter: Illinois 17, Michigan 10. The Maize and Blue will be trailing in the fourth quarter for the first time this season.
• 3Q, 0:06 — Michigan’s offense goes three-and-out for the second time this afternoon. Brad Robbins’ punt is downed at the Illinois 43-yard line, where the Illini take over.
• 3Q, 1:26 — Illinois running back Chase Brown rips off a 37-yard touchdown run to take the lead. The Illini are in front 17-10 after the made extra point.
• 3Q, 2:41 — Michigan goes for it on 4th and 6 from the Illinois 37-yard line, thought it drew Illinois offsides and went for a bomb to Andrel Anthony. The receiver dropped a nicely-thrown ball from J.J. McCarthy. The Illini take over on their own 37.
• 3Q, 7:43 — Illinois running back Chase Brown powers it in the end zone from 8 yards out to tie the game after the extra point. The game is knotted up at 10-10 after a 9-play, 67-yard scoring drive.
• 3Q, 11:10 — Jake Moody nails a 46-yard field goal to give Michigan a 10-3 lead. J.J. McCarthy missed Andrel Anthony on a deep route along the Illinois sideline on third down.
• 3Q, 13:51 — Michigan’s defense forces a three and out before a bad punt by Illinois. The Wolverines inserted Blake Corum into the game and the crowd went wild.
• Blake Corum, who was hurt in the first half (left knee), came charging out of the tunnel at halftime and warmed up.

• 2Q, 1:36 — Michigan running back Blake Corum ran for 4 yards but went down and was favoring his left knee. He walked gingerly into the locker room. The ball appeared to be out before he was down, and after review, it was ruled a fumble with an Illinois recovery. The Illini will take over on their own 13-yard line.

• 2Q, 4:03 — Illinois puts together a 10-play, 59-yard drive that ends with a 29-yard field goal to make it 7-3. The Illini were set to go for 4th and 1, but a Michigan shift on the defensive line helped out an Illinois false start to set them back five yards. They wound up bringing the field goal unit on.
• 2Q, 8:47 — That’s a third straight punt for Michigan against this stout Illinois defense. Even with the wind, Brad Robbins’ punt was only 37 yards. Illinois takes over on its own 30-yard line.
• 2Q, 11:39 — Freshman defensive tackle Mason Graham leading the charge on a tackle for no gain on fourth down, forcing an Illinois turnover on downs after a 10-play, 44-yard drive. The Wolverines take over on their own 36-yard line.
• End of the first quarter: Michigan 7, Illinois 0
• 1Q, 0:20 — Michigan went for and got a 4th and 1 (Blake Corum run) but wasn’t able to pick up another first down and punted it away. Robbins with another short boot, 31 yards to the Illinois 20-yard line.
• 1Q, 3:55 — Michigan’s defense forces another three-and-out and an Illinois punt, after a 4-yard drive from the Illini. The Wolverines take over on their own 37-yard line after a 5-yard return from Ronnie Bell.
• 1Q, 5:09 — Michigan’s drive went for 60 yards but stalled out after a run on 3rd and 9. Brad Robbins’ punt into the wind went for only 18 yards, so Illinois will begin on its own 19-yard line.
• 1Q, 10:03 — Michigan forces a three-and-out on Illinois’ first possession. Safety R.J. Moten had the pressure on third down as quarterback Tommy DeVito threw it away out of bounds. The Illinois punt was downed at the Michigan 3-yard line, making it a long field for the Maize and Blue.
• 1Q, 11:28 — After fair catching the opening kickoff and starting on its own 25-yard line, Michigan started with a 37-yard run by junior running back Blake Corum on the first play from scrimmage, which sparked a scoring drive. Corum finished it off with a 2-yard touchdown run. The Wolverines false started on the extra point, moving it back to make it a 26-yard try, but Jake Moody still nailed it to make it 7-0.
• Illinois has won the coin toss and chosen to defer its choice to the second half. The Wolverines will receive and march from north to south on a windy day at The Big House. They’re into the wind to start.
