Previewing Michigan vs. Michigan State with a Spartans insider

Sizing up Michigan and MSU

Michigan is 7-0 in back to back seasons for the first time since 1974-75. Before this past weekend’s bye, the Maize and Blue knocked off then No. 10 Penn State, 41-17, to stay undefeated. Penn State is now No. 13. Michigan ranks No. 4 in both major polls and controls its own destiny in the Big Ten East.

MSU is 3-4 on the season but has some semblance of momentum after winning its first Big Ten game two weeks ago over Wisconsin in double overtime, before the Spartans had a bye week of their own. Head coach Mel Tucker is now 16-11 at the helm in East Lansing.

Michigan and MSU will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Maize and Blue are 10-2 in home night games, 10-1 with fans in the stands. This is the second home night game of the season, with the first being the Sept. 10 clash with Hawai’i.
