Michigan Wolverines football is set to take on No. 1 Oregon Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor. The Maize and Blue are two-touchdown underdogs at home, and haven’t beaten a top-ranked team since taking down Miami Sept. 8, 1984.

• On Davis Warren: “Davis never really changed throughout the process. Was the same kid. But obviously played better.
• On what he liked about what Warren did last week: “The huge thing was the conversions on third down. But taking care of the football was obviously No. 1.”
• On the threat of Alex Orji throwing: That’s always up and ready. We’ve always got the bag of tricks ready if need be, and this is a game we may have to break out a couple.”
• On the pass protection against Michigan State: “A guy that has been challenged a lot is Evan Link, and he went in there and didn’t give up a pressure.”
• On what needs to improve with the run blocking: “The little things. Not just assignments but fundamentally when you’re getting off of blocks, hand positioning, those things.”

LSU WR commit Derek Meadows makes appearance

Michigan has officially received a visit from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows, who’s committed to LSU. Not only is it significant that he’s on campus on its own, but the Wolverines are also pursuing five-star LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood.

Rayshaun Benny, Jordan Marshall warming up

Michigan senior defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny and freshman running back Jordan Marshall — both of whom are listed as questionable — are warming up. Benny has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury. Marshall hasn’t played since Sept. 7 against Texas due to what was described as a lower-body injury. Most of the time this season, Michigan players who are ‘questionable’ and warm up play in the game.

Senior defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny and freshman running back Jordan Marshall are both listed as questionable, along with walk-on back Bryson Kuzdal. The following players are out:

• Junior cornerback Will Johnson
• Junior safety Jaden Mangham
• Junior linebacker Micah Pollard
• Senior safety Rod Moore
• Sophomore corner Jyaire Hill
• Senior LB Christian Boivin
• Junior RT Andre Gentry (out for season)

Series Facts: This will be only the sixth meeting between Michigan and Oregon, and the first as Big Ten foes. Michigan holds a 3-2 margin in the all-time series, but Oregon has won the last two meetings between the schools (in 2007 and 2003). This will be the 21st time that U-M has faced the Associated Press No. 1-ranked team (3-16-1), with the most recent occurrence in 2006, a 42-39 loss to Ohio State in a battle between the top two teams in the nation.
