Former Michigan Wolverines football defensive end and Philadelphia Eagles standout Brandon Graham tore his triceps against the Los Angeles Rams Nov. 24, 2025. At that point, Graham and the team believed his season was over, likely ending his career since he was leaning toward retiring after the 2024 campaign.

Not so fast.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday in New Orleans, and Graham is slated to suit up.

“I’m just happy that I’m able to play in this last one,” Graham told the media this week

The 36-year-old was taken off of the Injured Reserve list after the Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship game, and now he’s been activated onto the roster for the Super Bowl.

“I might not be talking as much because I’m trying to save my energy because it has been two months since I’ve played, but I am excited,” Graham told the media Wednesday. “Working with the strength staff, the trainers, I feel like we’ve got a good little regiment that will make sure they bridge me back into everything.”

“B.G. is basically the leader of this team and he’s been the leader of the city, honestly,” cornerback Darius Slay said in an interview with Eagles writer Arye Pulli. “We needed his energy and his physicality out there, he’s a dominant force.”

“He’s the heartbeat of this team,” defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson said when asked about Graham. “He should have a statue outside of the stadium pretty soon.”

Graham saw action in 11 games during the regular season, registering 6 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He’s been a mainstay in the Eagles’ lineup for 15 seasons, logging 206 appearances with 106 starts in the regular season, posting 76.5 sacks and 126 tackles for loss in his career.

The 6-foot-2, 265-pounder has also stepped up in the postseason, recording 5.5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss during his playoff career. He helped deliver Philadelphia its first Lombardi Trophy by sacking and forcing a fumble on former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady, then with the New England Patriots, to seal Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis.

The Eagles are 1.5-point underdogs to the Kansas City Chiefs, who are shooting to win their third-consecutive Super Bowl. Graham and fullback/linebacker Ben VanSumeren are the two former Michigan players on Philadelphia, while outside linebacker Joshua Uche and defensive end Michael Danna representing the Wolverines for the Chiefs.

Only two college programs have more former players in the Super Bowl — Oklahoma (seven) and Georgia (6). Michigan, Alabama and Florida each have four.

All time, Michigan has had 133 players appear in a Super Bowl, the most among any college program, per CFB Tracker.
