Michigan WR Amorion Walker plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

Michigan Wolverines football senior wide receiver Amorion Walker plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told On3.
Walker spent two seasons at Michigan, transferred to Ole Miss for the spring of 2024, returned to the Wolverines for the 2024 season and has been listed on U-M’s spring roster in 2025 without a jersey number. Walker redshirted last season and has two years of eligibility remaining.
The NCAA transfer portal opens April 16 and will close April 25. Michigan’s spring game is April 19 at The Big House.
Walker wore the No. 1 jersey in 2024, which is prestigious among Michigan wide receivers, but saw action in just four games and caught 3 passes for 34 yards. Wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator Ron Bellamy was asked about Monday why he didn’t have a jersey number.
“He’s just working through something right now,” Bellamy replied. “Just trying to get healthy, working through something.”
Bellamy was hit with the question of whether or not Walker has been practicing.
“Working through something,” he said, declining to share any other information.
The 6-foot-3, 182-pounder was a wide receiver his freshman season but switched to cornerback as a sophomore. He went back to offense as a junior at Michigan.
Walker leaves Michigan with 4 catches for 38 yards on offense, along with 3 tackles, a half-tackle for loss and a pass breakup on defense. He appeared in 15 games with one start.
A Ponchatoula (La.) High product, Walker was a three-star recruit and the nation’s No. 466 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

When former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh encouraged a move from wide receiver to cornerback ahead of the 2023 season, he praised Walker’s athleticism and upside.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that he would excel and thrive both as a wide receiver and as a defensive back,” Harbaugh said in February 2023. “Just really tried to find the absolute best position for him for his career, where’s he going to make the greatest impact over the course of his career, benefit the most from his football ability.
“You just don’t know for sure whether it’s receiver or corner but the length he has, the athletic ability that he has, speed that he has, and the change of direction, mainly, for a guy that’s 6-foot-3, 6-foot-4, i’s rare. It’s rare for a corner to be able to have that length and speed, but have that change the direction. So you just want to find out.”
Walker joins defensive lineman Alessandro Lorenzetti as Michigan players who have announced they plan to enter the portal this month.
