Michigan WR Karmello English plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Michigan Wolverines football released its spring roster with practices having begun Monday, and there was a notable omission in wide receiver Karmello English, who’s no longer with the program. The sophomore announced Saturday afternoon that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens for undergraduate football players in mid-April. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Wolverine!” English wrote. “I would like to thank [former Michigan head] Coach [Jim] Harbaugh, [head coach Sherrone] Moore and [wide receivers] Coach [Ron] Bellamy for believing in my ability to play at UM. More notably, I appreciate my teammates, Michigan fans and support staff!
“After careful consideration, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal on April 16th!”
The portal will be open April 15-30. Michigan concludes spring practices with an April 20 intrasquad scrimmage in front of fans at The Big House.
English is the fifth Michigan player who has either entered the portal or announced his intentions to do so since Harbaugh departed the program for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers in late January.
