Newsstand: Michigan WR Roman Wilson discusses devastating Maui wildfires
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan senior wide receiver, a Honolulu, Hawai’i, native, has been going through fall camp, but he’s had a heavy heart over the last few days. Wildfires have spread through Maui, causing devastation and death, and destroying miles and miles of land.
“Just coming out of practice, checking my phone … people are texting me like ‘Are you ok? Is your family ok?'” Wilson said. “It’s awful. People I grew up with, their homes are gone. People are asking what they can do to help, what do they need? Everything. Their cars are gone, houses are gone, all their belongings are gone. A place I grew up in, I can’t go back to visit; i’s gone. There’s nothing there.
“I’ve had a lot of bad stuff happen in my life, but this is hard to deal with. I don’t think it’s going to really hit me until I go back and see how it’s changed. Some of it’s still going on right now, and man, it just sucks.”
On the field, Wilson is gearing up for what’s expected to be a strong senior season at Michigan. But off the field, it’s been a challenge with all that’s going on at home.

Quote Of The Day
“I’ve been participating in fall camp going on two weeks now. My cutting ability is great. But there are some minor things I want to tweak to it, just to be better than I was last year. Right now, I’m already as good as I was last year, but I want to be even better, so that’s where that last one percent comes in — and it’s coming. Now, it’s just a lot of reps, just being where my feet are day in and day out. By September 2nd, I’ll be 100 percent.”
