Former Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell — an NFL Draft hopeful — had a nice rep on a slant route against former Ohio State defensive back Ronnie Hickman. The Buckeye nearly left the frame and couldn’t stay anywhere near Bell.

The NFL Network broadcast discussed Bell for a minute or so and raved about his competitiveness. There was also an eye-opening comparison to Detroit Lions second-year wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, a fourth-round pick in 2021 who’s already totaled over 2,000 receiving yards in his career.

“He’s a tough, competitive dude,” NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said of Bell. “You see it in the run game, you see it when he gets the ball in his hands, you see it when he’s fighting for the ball up in the air.

“It’s kinda hard to play for a Harbaugh and not be tough and competitive. They’re going to make you be that way,” analyst Charles Davis chimed in.

“He gave me a little bit of Amon-Ra St. Brown vibe when I watched him,” Jeremiah added. “That young man is a Pro Bowler now.”

Michigan pursued former Ole Miss cornerback Davison Igbinosun out of the transfer portal and hosted him on a visit over the weekend. However, buzz surrounding Ohio State started to surface Monday, and he pledged to the Buckeyes Tuesday.

Michigan released a hype video with clips from winter conditioning. Spring ball is set to begin at the end of February.

Michigan sophomore defenseman Luke Hughes scored four of the Wolverines’ five goals in a comeback 5-4 win over Penn State Saturday, after the Maize and Blue fell behind 3-0. He earned Big Ten First Star of the Week honors for his performance.

There were rumors of Jim Harbaugh being an option for the Denver Broncos, even after he turned them away twice, but it’s officially over, with Sean Payton reportedly set to become the team’s next head man.

Quote Of The Day

“Obviously, players want to improve themselves, get better individually, but there’s also love for each other. We want to see everybody succeed. We want to see everybody get better. Coach [Jim Harbaugh] and everybody at Michigan has done a really good job with that. That’s why I love this place so much.” — Michigan defensive tackle Kris Jenkins after the Fiesta Bowl loss to TCU
