DONOVAN EDWARDS DECISION: Will Michigan RB Return To School Or Take Shot At NFL? CJ Stokes Departure

Michigan Wolverines football is searching for wide receivers in the NCAA transfer portal, and former Tulane standout Chris Brazzell II is one of the options on the board.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Brazzell has heard from 38 schools since entering the portal Dec. 4, including the Maize and Blue. Other notable programs to make contact with Brazzell are Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Washington, Penn State, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Miami. Brazzell reportedly recently visited Tennessee and Washington.

Brazzell has three years of eligibility remaining, after redshirting at Tulane in 2022 and seeing time in 13 games in 2023.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder is the seventh-best uncommitted wide receiver in the transfer portal, per On3’s rankings. He was named a third-team Freshman All-American by College Football News.

The Midland (Texas) Legacy product competed in two games as a freshman in 2022, hauling in 1 catch for 11 yards. He broke out as one of the top pass-catchers in the American Athletic Conference in 2023, leading the Green Wave in receptions (44) and receiving yards (711), adding 5 touchdown grabs (tied second on the team).

This season, Brazzell had multiple catches in every game. He had two 100-plus yard outing — 103 versus Memphis and an identical number against Florida Atlantic.

According to PFF, Brazzell led Tulane with 9 contested catches on the year. The next-highest mark on the team was 5. He averaged 3.5 yards after the catch per reception and 2.24 yards per route run. Brazzell tool 89 percent of his pass snaps as an outside receiver, the other 11 percent coming from the slot.

The Michigan transfer portal target helped lead Tulane to an 11-2 season. The Green Wave fell to SMU in the AAC championship game, 26-14, and will play in the Military Bowl against Virginia Tech Dec. 27.

Brazzell was a three-star recruit out of high school, ranked the No. 1,163 overall player in the country and 169th-best in Texas. His only reported Power Five offer came from Pittsburgh.

Michigan is also courting former Wake Forest wide receiver Jahmal Banks. The Wolverines offered a scholarship to Indiana’s Donaven McCulley, too, but the wide receiver withdrew from the portal and announced that he will return to Bloomington.

Michigan is in the College Football Playoff for the third straight season and will take on Alabama in the Rose Bowl Jan. 1.
