TheWolverine.com‘s Clayton Sayfie and Anthony Broome break down the latest surrounding Michigan Wolverines football and basketball on this week’s podcast. Highlight from this Michigan podcast

As TheWolverine.com reported earlier this week, Michigan graduate wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who tore his ACL in last season’s opening game, is back as a full participant in the Wolverines’ summer workouts and on schedule to be full-go during fall camp, which is estimated to begin in early August.

Sayfie and Broome discussed their conversation with Bell at Sunday’s TUFF camp and what the news means for Michigan.

“I don’t want to speak for him and say he’s 100 percent,” Sayfie said, “but he is fully cleared to participate in everything this summer and into the fall for fall camp. He said he’s feeling good; he said he did not go through that nine months of rehab to come back and just be the same player. He wants to be even better. Jim Harbaugh said last week, that from what he’s seen, he is going to be even better.

“And people forget … it was disappointing to lose Ronnie Bell last year — he led Michigan in receiving in 2019 and 2020, a rare feat for a guy to do it two times in a row — but he looked like he had another gear last year in that first game against Western Michigan. He had the 76-yard touchdown; he had the sick, one-handed grab that got called back from a penalty.

“He’s gonna be a big piece [for Michigan] — a guy I don’t think enough people are talking about.”

“And the attitude is good, too — not that there was ever concern about that,” Broome added. “ACLs aren’t what they used to be. Even for the college kids, it’s — I don’t want to say it’s the equivalent of a nose bleed, and obviously it’s a grueling rehab — but for those guys it’s pretty routine now.

“You can come back better, because I think the medical tools we have available to us allow for that, the rehab stuff is as good as it’s ever been. So when Ronnie Bell says he has a chance to come back better than ever, I believe him.”
