Bellamy discussed Michigan’s passing game woes.
“Yeah, it’s not where we want it to be,” he said. “We all gotta do our 1/11th, from protection to quarterbacks, to receivers — everything, even coaches. Just being more detailed, just everybody just doing it together. That’s how we’re going get this thing rolling, and that’s our mindset.
“I am [surprised by the lack of receiver production]. Obviously, two of your top receivers having that low of production. Ultimately, for us in our receiver room, the one thing we constantly talk about is, when opportunities present themselves, you gotta make the plays — and most importantly do what you can do or do what you gotta do for us to win. And we haven’t done enough thus far this year. I haven’t done enough. Collectively, we all gotta be better.”

Michigan’s defensive backs showed improvement last week, holding Illinois to only 80 passing yards. Sophomore Jyaire Hill made some strides.

“Jyaire, I think we were here last time talking about him, just being able to get more reps, continue to see how the ebbs and flows of a game are, a season are,” Morgan said. “When you’re not feeling the best with your body, being able to refocus. You’re never going to feel 100 percent. Just working through some of the growing pains of being a starter here at Michigan as a young player.
“I think he had a good focus that week, he worked at it. We’re in the meat of our conference season right now, where our guys have to continue to focus throughout the week on what they can do better, what we can do to help them out, what issues are showing up, those different things.
“Jyaire is a unique kid. He cares a lot. He’s silly, but he really cares when he gets down to the field.”
