Michigan’s head coach is clearly disappointed in his offense, and that his team has committed 15 turnovers in seven games. He was asked what he’s seen from the group.
“Execution on offense and turning the ball over … there’s good, but not enough good,” Moore said. “We can’t turn the ball over. That’s really the end of the discussion.
“If you don’t turn the football over, you win the game. We have to take care of the football at all costs. I feel like we’re protecting it way better in practice, and it’s just not translating to the games. We have to figure out as coaches, as a team, how to translate all that stuff to a game. There are things you can do in a practice they have to replicate like they have before in a game.”
Moore didn’t say who Michigan’s starting quarterback would be in the next game, but he did mention that how they handle the competition will affect installing the game plan.
“You have a game plan,” he explained. “You have different things guys are better at and that you’ll feature for individual people. But we definitely have a process for what we’ll go through and how we’ll go through it and solve it all.

Here’s some more of what the Michigan head coach said:
• “It’ll still be” offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell calling plays, Moore said when asked if he’s considered taking over the duties.
• When asked how he’d explain the Michigan program’s regression in performance since last season, Moore harped on how the Wolverines must take care of the football. “I can say it tirelessly,” Moore said. He mentioned that last season the Wolverines hardly had any fumbles or interceptions.
• On signs of growth that he’s seen since the start of the season, Moore pointed to the defense bouncing back from being put in tough positions time and time again. He also said the defense tackled better against Illinois, and that sophomore cornerback Jyaire Hill had a bounce-back performance.
• The Michigan team is “down” about the Illinois loss but “excited” to play Michigan State. Moore said it’s a “big game” and a “state championship.” He said the players “take a lot of pride in keeping the Paul Bunyan Trophy here.”
