Interesting Facts: Taylor played all over the field in high school. In one game The Wolverine saw him live, he played MIKE, WILL, EDGE, nickel, tight end, slot receiver and H-back.

Recruitment

Landing Taylor, who visited over the summer, was the first win on the trail for Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary since he returned to the Wolverines’ staff this past winter. Jean-Mary made him a priority after taking the job, and actually had already begun conversations with Taylor while the assistant coach was working at Tennessee. Taylor pulled the trigger in committing on the spot while visiting Michigan.

He said it

“I see myself coming right in and doing well,” Taylor said. “They drop back into coverage and have some blitz packages. They see me as a WILL for sure. The defense is a great fit for me under Coach Wink Martindale.”

They said it

“Michigan probably has one of the best opportunities for anyone, whether they’re an athlete or student, in terms of life after football or getting a degree, what your career goals or life goals are going to be. That in itself was just amazing to us. Chase is going to come and play football. He may or may not make it to the next step. But if he doesn’t, we are comfortable in knowing he’s going to have all the necessary tools to live his life from that degree he has at Michigan, from those opportunities, from the internships, as well as people speaking into him and just taking him along with them. There is no way he’s going to fail there. No way.”

Scouting report

“Look, Taylor has a high ceiling, but he also has a really low floor. We could all look really dumb in a few years or we could never hear from him again. The variables here are too drastic for me to go any higher than a high three-star grade. With that said, I would love to see Taylor in person this fall to get a better feel for his game and see how he’s developing physically and technically.”
