Led by a career-high 28 points by Jordan Hobbs, No. 6 seed Michigan women’s basketball defeated No. 11 seed Iowa State 80-74 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday. Hobbs also added 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Here are some notes from the game via MGoBlue.com:
After trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, U-M outscored Iowa State, 27-18, in the final 10 minutes to record the win.
All five starters scored in double figures, led by a career-high 28 points from Jordan Hobbs to tie the program record for most points in an NCAA Tournament game. Olivia Olson turned in 16 points, including a free-throw line jumper to seal the game for Michigan with 20 seconds left, with Greta Kampschroeder (13), Mila Holloway (12) and Syla Swords (11) each scoring at least 10 points. U-M hit 12 three-pointers in the contest, making eight in the second half and turned 18 Iowa State turnovers into 21 points.
