Newsstand: Michigan coach Sherrone Moore on 'haters' — 'make their asses suffocate'
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore spoke at the Wayne State National College Showcase satellite camp in Detroit on Thursday. In part, his message to high school players was to prove doubters — “haters” — wrong.
“I appreciate you guys coming out here, waking up and getting this work in. Make sure you guys thank your family members that brought you guys out here, parents, people that support you, coaches, whoever that is.
“I’m Sherrone Moore. I’m the head coach at the University of Michigan, a proud member of our 2023 national championship team. How it was built — a foundation of hard work. We had talented players, but if you [have to] your tail off every single second, every single moment to become a champion. Every single coach you talk to throughout this process — whether it’s here, whether it’s at another university — make sure you put that first: the hard work.
“Everybody has these star ratings and rankings. That’s all well and good. But that shit doesn’t really matter when you get to a university, because everybody’s even. So make sure you think about that. Always stay humble, never be complacent and always put the work first.
“What we look for are smart, tough, dependable human beings. That’s it! Smart, tough and dependable.
Continued the Michigan coach: “Process, pursuit, standard is what we’re working with right now. We always talked about last year, ‘Process over prize.’ We saw in our indoor [facility], it said 1997 national championship. That was the last time we had one. We got sick and tired of people coming into the building talking about, ‘national championship team, national championship team.’ Well, guess what? We went in and attacked that every single day. That’s what we did, and competed with the best of the best in what we think is the best conference in the country, to go do that.
“But to do that, you have to have a mindset and you have to go to a different place than going to hang out, going to play video games, go out and party. You gotta separate yourself than that.

“Everybody is going to have haters. Your haters are holding your breath for you to fail. Your job is to make their asses suffocate. That’s what your job is to do. So when you guys go out there today, make sure you’re putting the work in, listening, looking, following directions and doing it at the highest level to go help yourself compete and go put the best film on tape when you guys get to high school this year and you go attack the moment.”
Northwestern has released a conceptual image of its makeshift stadium for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Michigan will play at Northwestern in 2025 after hosting the Wildcats this fall. It’s possible that they play there or Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Quote Of The Day
“It’s a great program. I told him ‘you are deciding between blue chip programs not a few lower levels.’ Those places have been staples forever. It’s about finding the place you fit the best. Don’t worry about the quarterback in front of you or who they recruit after you. Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, and that will continue through his collegiate career. I think he fits in pretty well in any offense. It will be interesting to see how the offense morphs at Michigan now that (Jim) Harbaugh is gone.”
