Monday Musings: ‘Contract week,’ Big Ten coaches on Michigan vs Alabama, more

Michigan held its awards banquet Sunday night at Crisler Center, and to nobody’s surprise, quarterback J.J. McCarthy captured MVP honors. McCarthy wasn’t 100 percent in the last third of the season — not close in a couple games — but toughed it out to lead another undefeated regular season and Big Ten title game win.
