The Wolverine on replacing 5 starters on Michigan football's OL & weapons in the TE room I #GoBlue

The Michigan Wolverines head into the 2024 football season replacing all five starters on the offensive line from its run to the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023. One of the key figures will be tackle Myles Hinton, who had an up-and-down campaign but projects to start on the left side for this current group.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Clayton Sayfie discussed Hinton and the projected offensive line starters on Monday night’s show, in addition to a rundown of the tight end room and taking questions from fans.

“There’s a lot to like [about Hinton] but there are also a decent amount of question marks” Sayfie said about Hinton, who transferred in from Stanford ahead of the 2023 season. “He’s a fifth-year senior, but at the same time, he wasn’t good enough to go to the NFL last year. He lost his starting job. He also battled injury, which is worth noting last season. But he has started a significant amount of games in college football. He did win a starting job to begin last season over some guys who ended up being pretty good players. LaDarius Henderson started the year on the bench, then he moved over to the left. Karsen Barnhart slides over to the right side. I think that was a pretty ideal setup. He also beat out Trente Jones who ended up finishing the year at right tackle after Zak Zinter got hurt and Barnhart moved down to right guard.

“It’s pretty impressive that he could do that when he was healthy coming out of fall camp, but at the same time, he didn’t perform all that well in some of those games and got passed over. Do I expect him to be a first-round pick? No. Do I think he could be pretty darn good and an All-Big Ten type of player? Absolutely. But I don’t know that I would bet on that at this point, just because I haven’t seen it. But he has experience, and there are other guys on this line with experience.”
