Newsstand: Analyst calls this year's edition of 'The Game' a tossup

The Michigan Wolverines have an over/under win total of 8.5 set for the 2025 college football season with plausible scenarios on either side of the total. As one of the country’s most polarizing teams, it is hard to put a finger on how they might fare.
ESPN analyst Greg McElroy recently discussed the Wolverines, giving them 7 games that feel like wins on the schedule. From there, they are in striking distance to hit the over. But one of the games that might swing it will be the regular-season finale against the rival Ohio State Buckeyes.
“Shockingly enough, I’m going to put the Ohio State game into the toss-up category,” the ESPN analyst said. “Should I give that as a win because of how they fared against the Buckeyes the last couple years? Perhaps, but I can’t. I think Ohio State on paper has a lot of answered questions this upcoming season, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if we’re sitting there on Nov. 29 at four o’clock in the afternoon and Michigan has won yet another one against the Buckeyes.
“It wouldn’t shock me. It shouldn’t shock anybody at this point with how they match up against the Buckeyes. So, can it be done? Sure, but it will be difficult. They gotta win at least two of those toss-up games and some of those toss-up games are pretty tricky.”

Michigan quote of the day
“Great leader. For a 17-year-old kid, phenomenal leader. We all know about the physical attributes, but I think he’s on the right track. He’s definitely on the right track. Super [rare]… He doesn’t get rattled. He’s always working. And you love that as a coach, because you know the quarterback usually leads the team and guys follow. You can see that following now with some of the guys — not just guys in his class, but some of the older guys too that Bryce has done a good job with.”
