Newsstand: Blake Corum out for NFL playoffs with arm injury
The Michigan Wolverines leaned on Blake Corum last year in their pursuit of and eventual capture of the College Football Playoff National Championship. It appears he will not be available this postseason with the Los Angeles Rams.
According to head coach Sean McVay, Corum suffered a broken forearm in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He will be unavailable for the team the rest of the season, however long it lasts. The Rams host the Minnesota Vikings next Monday night in the final game of the NFL’s Wild Card round.
Corum, who was selected in the third round of last spring’s NFL Draft, had 58 carries for 207 yards during his rookie season, playing primarily as the backup to lead back Kyren Williams. He added 7 receptions for 58 yards, and heads into 2025 looking for his first career touchdown.
Corum’s Michigan career saw him earn a laundry list of accolades, from being a two-time All-American, a two-time top-10 vote-getter for the Heisman Trophy, a team captain in 2023, the Chicago Tribune’s Silver Football award in 2022, and offensive MVP honors in the 2023 National Championship game, among other honors. He is Michigan’s single-season record holder for rushing touchdowns (27), total touchdowns (28) and total points scored (168, a Big Ten record), all set during the 2023 season. He is seventh all-time in rushing yards at Michigan with 3,737 yards and the program’s career record-holder in rushing touchdowns (58), total touchdowns (61), and career points scored (356).

Michigan quote of the day
“I’m not a video game player, but I’ve heard the word ‘cheat code’ a lot. I know back in the day when I played Nintendo, there were some certain patterns in ‘Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out.’ We feel like our one cheat code right now is Danny and Vlad in a four-five ball screen with specific spacing and with certain guys in certain places.
“But, man, the individual plays … the chemistry that they’re developing in that combination …”
