Former Michigan Wolverines basketball signee Christian Anderson has found his new school, committing to Texas Tech on Monday. The 5-foot-11 guard had previously been committed to Michigan under head coach Juwan Howard, but opened his recruitment after the transition from Howard to Dusty May.

Anderson is the No. 119 overall player in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

May has added 8 players and 2 freshmen to the roster this offseason since taking on the Michigan job, but said during his introductory press conference he would prefer to build through the high school ranks.

“I enjoy the younger players and having continuity, building, growing together, and therefore, the lifelong relationships that I feel like I have with almost every player I’ve ever coached. It’s modern athletics, though, the portal will be a valuable asset every year. We’ll use it.

“Our goal has always been to find the best players we can find and help them be the best they can be. So I don’t have an answer. We’re going to find the best players for Michigan, whether it’s international, whether it’s high school, from school, junior college, or portal, we’ll be on the hunt for the best players that fit us and want to be a part of this storied program.”

Michigan quote of the day

“I thought it was great. I would’ve liked to see one more linebacker, probably. People are saying the defense is set, and I’m looking at the backups to Jaishawn Barham and Ernest Hausmann, and I’m thinking if they had one more guy like they did last year when Hausmann was that guy, finishing third on the team in tackles, I’d feel a lot better. But you don’t replace Rod Moore. And I wrote that in the football preview. This is a guy who is elite at that position. All-American, one of the best quarterbacks they’ve ever had in the secondary. Outstanding instincts. This guy’s just a big play playmaker. But you can do it by committee so that you have enough guys there now.”
