Newsstand: Michigan indefinitely suspends Denard Robinson
Michigan Wolverines staffer and former on-field star Denard Robinson was arrested Monday morning after a car crash that occurred in the early hours of the day while he was allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Robinson, who serves as the team’s Assistant Director of Player Personnel, has been indefinitely suspended by the program pending the results of the investigation.
“We are aware of an incident involving Denard Robinson and have suspended him indefinitely. We will continue to monitor the situation and will have no further comment at this time,” head coach Sherrone Moore said in a statement on Monday night.
Unfortunately, this is the program’s second alcohol-related staff incident this offseason. Defensive line coach Greg Scruggs was arrested for an OWI just before the start of spring ball, which ultimately led to his resignation from the program. He was replaced by Lou Esposito in the position.
A police report was not available as of this posting and charges are pending toxicology results. The crash took place at E. Eisenhower Parkway and St. State St. at approximately 3:05 a.m., according to Ann Arbor Police.

Robinson is entering his third season with the program as a staffer after his hiring in February 2022 by former head coach Jim Harbaugh. Moore retained him on his Michigan staff this offseason.

Michigan quote of the day
“Cade McNamara was ahead of JJ McCarthy coming out of spring [2022] and he was ahead of him throughout a good portion of the fall until JJ came out and took it in the last couple of weeks of camp there and then in that Hawaii game. I just don’t think there’s a championship-level quarterback on this roster and I hope I’m wrong. It’s not a luxury to have a very good quarterback at Michigan. It’s a necessity. And if you look at the top quarterbacks, the top programs throughout the country, it’s very rare that you don’t have a guy who is really good.”
