The Michigan Wolverines have to find a way to pick themselves up off the mat after a 21-7 loss at Illinois on Saturday afternoon in Champaign. The good news for them is that next week provides an opportunity to get back on track in a rivalry game.

The Michigan State Spartans, fresh off a win over Iowa on Saturday night in East Lansing, are the next team up on the docket. The Vegas odds had Michigan as a 9.5-point favorite on Saturday, but the Sunday morning update saw the line move down to 7.5-points in favor of the Wolverines with the over/under set at 40.5 points.

Gametime from Ann Arbor is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.

Head coach Sherrone Moore knows that the game will be hard-fought, and that even coming off a pair of losses it should not be hard to get up for a game against an in-state rival.

“Yeah, we know we gotta go win next week,” Moore said during his postgame press conference. “We should be motivated enough. You got an in-state rival, got Michigan State on deck. But we gotta get better ourselves. We gotta do everything we can from when we get on the plane to when we land to get better. And again, not finger-pointing, we can’t, but we gotta keep each other accountable, and we will.”

Michigan quote of the day

“No, I don’t think it’s a grit. It’s an execution thing. It’s not that these guys aren’t tough or gritty. We’ve just got to execute the little things. We’ve got to make the completions. We’ve got to find the proper hat placement to do the little things and not turn the ball over. If you don’t turn the ball over, you win the game. But we can’t live in the what-if world. So for us, we just have to go execute and possess the football.”
