The Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes rivalry, one of the best in all of sports, is renewed this week with U-M looking to build its win streak to four games in the series.

Unfortunately but unsurprisingly, it will do so as a major underdog.

According to the latest batch of Vegas odds released this week via FanDuel Sportsbook, the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes opened as a 21.5-point favorite over the Wolverines with the over/under set at 44.5 points between the two teams. Since the opening line was released, the OSU advantage is down to 20.5 points with the point total dropping to 43.5.

These two titans have met the last three years as top five teams, but head into Saturday’s game on different trajectories. U-M moved to bowl eligibility with a 50-6 win over Northwestern on Saturday, moving to 6-5 on the season. Ohio State is 10-1 after a 38-15 win over No. 5 Indiana on Saturday and one of the teams favored to compete for a national championship.

Michigan’s 42-27 win over Ohio State in 2021 was its first in 10 years and helped the program to its first Big Ten title since 2004 and first College Football Playoff appearance. U-M ran it back with a 45-23 win in Columbus during the 2022 season en route to another conference crown and trip to the CFP, then made it 3-for-3 in all of those areas plus a national championship win in 2023 thanks to a 30-24 win in Ann Arbor.

Saturday’s game will kick off just after noon on FOX.

Michigan quote of the day

I think that’s just a part of it because that’s just a part of college football and recruiting now and so you still have to have the attitude that you want to come to Michigan to be transformed into something bigger than just yourself and for us, it’s the support that you get isn’t just always financial, you know, it’s putting your guys in positions, whether it’s internships or different things to make sure you can, you know, you have a goal that you want to do and football’s not here forever. What can we do to help you to accomplish that goal? So that support’s a big piece of it too.
