Michigan football and basketball both made splash additions from the transfer portal Wednesday, with both teams landing a commitment.

Juwan Howard and Co. were the leaders for former Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua for some time, but it appeared he eliminated Michigan from contention on Monday. This recruitment had some twists and turns, though, and the latest was the Wolverines reemerging to beat out West Virginia and Baylor, two schools that were right in the mix until the end.

“It’s a thrill to be able to bring in an efficient and skilled player like Olivier,” Howard said in a statement. “He brings so many intangibles and experiences we know he will have an immediate impact for us. His strength, rebounding, hustle, back-to-the-basket game as well as outside shooting are just a few of his skillsets that fans notice right away. However, what people don’t realize is what a tremendous passer he is.

He then took it a step further.

“He sees the floor and plays develop as good as anyone I have seen,” the Michigan coach added. “We are very excited for him to get to Ann Arbor.”

Michigan defensive tackle Kris Jenkins had the option to turn professional after his junior season, but he decided to return because “this place is my home.” Earning his degree also played a big factor.

Quote Of The Day

The itinerary had our conversation with Coach Harbaugh scheduled for 30 minutes. It lasted about an hour and 45 minutes before he realized he was late to his son’s basketball game. To talk to Coach Harbaugh for that long and not have any dead space or run out of conversation was pretty interesting. It wasn’t all football. It was jokes and him talking about his family. He has a large family like we have a large family, so we had some things in common. It was a really good conversation with a little bit about football.”
