Newsstand: Washington now favored in showdown on Saturday
The Michigan Wolverines are the No. 10 team in the country after Sunday’s AP Poll update, but that does not mean their first road trip of the year is set to be a gimme.
According to the latest odds updated on Saturday’s game at Washington, the Huskies are now a 2.5-point favorite after U-M originally opened as a 1.5-point favorite when the line was first released. Adjusting for typical home-field advantages, Vegas essentially has the matchup as a pick ’em game against the two teams that met for the biggest prize in the sport last season.
The Wolverines are 10-5 all-time against the Huskies and hold a three-game win streak in the series, headlined by last year’s CFP title win by a score of 34-13 in Houston. The last loss to Washington came in 2001 in a 23-18 decision.
The Huskies are coached by Jedd Fisch, a former Jim Harbaugh assistant who came to Washington after a stint as Arizona’s head coach from 2021-23.
Saturday’s game will be a primetime contest set for 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT with NBC’s team carrying the broadcast. Michigan will be on a bye week on Oct. 12 before returning to action on Oct. 19 at Illinois.

Michigan quote of the day
“I feel prepared. I feel good. But, you know, I also don’t want to let these kids down in any way. So, I will put a lot on myself to make sure I do everything I can to make them successful. So, I’m going to keep turning it up and do everything I can to help this team, this university to be great, because there’s a high standard when you have the skinny M and Block M on your shirt. So, for me, there’s a lot of pride. And I’m going to go to work. I’ll be in there right after this. So, I’m ready to go.”
