Alcohol is now available at Michigan Wolverines football games, and the spirits provided will be from a familiar face. The Woodson Whiskey company, owned by former U-M great and Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson, announced Tuesday that it has become an official sponsor with the athletic department with its product available at the Big House.

“’Those Who Stay Will Be Champions’ were words I lived by everyday while at the University of Michigan…but what happens when you leave? Well, I now have the answer for that: ‘Those Who Come Back Will Be Champions Once Again!’” Woodson said in a press release. “As a proud U-M alum, I am now excited to have Woodson Whiskey be the very first spirit sponsor in the history of Michigan Athletics! Go Blue!”

Joel Klatt sees echoes of past Michigan teams

FOX analyst Joel Klatt, who will be on the call for Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor against Texas, has been pounding the drum for Michigan feeling similar to the Jim Harbaugh era. He saw it in Saturday’s 30-10 win over Fresno State.

“You’re going to have peaks and valleys at Michigan,” Klatt said this week. “I don’t think that you’re just going to have a sustained best-in-the-country program year in and year out, because that’s not what they do. They recruit and develop and recruit and develop and recruit and develop. So now all the sudden, you’ve had these guys leave, and you’re going to have a little bit of a dip so that you can dip down and start that development process.

“I thought Saturday night was the starting of a development process. I think that this team can still win nine games, maybe 10 games, depending how they develop, depending how the offensive line plays, how the quarterbacks continue to play. Again, the Jake Rudock Michigan team of 2015 shocked everybody and won 10 games.”

Michigan quote of the day

“I think there will be a rhythm. I think you’ll catch a rhythm. And we’ll have some stuff that’s scripted, but we’ll catch a rhythm of when to use him and when not to use him, and we’ll do that successfully. Keep Davis in a rhythm, and if he’s in the game, keep Orji in a rhythm. Make sure we’re doing that for our team.”
