Offseason Movement: Michigan adds new staffer, loses another

Michigan has added another member to its recruiting department.
Tyler Markray will serve as recruiting analyst for the Wolverines. He joins the U-M staff after four months as a recruiting assistant at Western Michigan.
Markray already has plenty of familiarity with the Michigan program and may also be able to help on the NIL front. After all, Markray spent 11 months as an operations associate for Michigan’s collective, Valiant Management Group.
A Walled Lake (Mich.) Central grad, Markray joined the Kentucky football program as a walk-on running back in 2018.
While Michigan added Markray to the staff, it also lost recruiting analyst Jack Turner, who is now a college scout for the Tennessee Titans.
Turner spent one year with Michigan after coming over from Wake Forest. He worked closely with Michigan assistant JB Brown, focusing on special teams and safeties.
Michigan lost four recruiting staffers in the winter — Coleman Walker is now the Director of Player Personnel for Washington State, Cam Hughes is now the Assistant Director of Player Personnel at Jacksonville State, Jacob Weber is now a high school coach in Indiana and Preston Sagan is now part of the scouting service Tracking Football.
Michigan also lost its Associate Director of On-Campus Recruiting, Joshua Bailey, who left to take over as Director of Recruiting for Georgia State.
Michigan has made plenty of recent changes to its recruiting department over the last two years. The Wolverines reassigned Albert Karschnia and promoted Sam Popper to Director of Recruiting. U-M also brought on John Collins and Jack Dunaway as Assistant Directors of Recruiting. Every on-field assistant coach was assigned a recruiting staffer to help with position recruiting.
Sherrone Moore has shown a commitment to modernizing and expanding his staff during his tenure as head coach. That will not change moving forward.
