Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore made it a point to expand and modernize his recruiting department last offseason, bringing on several new hires.

The Wolverines reassigned Albert Karschnia and promoted Sam Popper to Director of Recruiting. U-M also brought on John Collins and Jack Dunaway as Assistant Directors of Recruiting. Every on-field assistant coach was assigned a recruiting staffer to help with position recruiting.

However, Michigan is now in the market for a new Associate Director of On-Campus Recruiting as Joshua Bailey is no longer with the program. Bailey recently left U-M to take over as Director of Recruiting for Georgia State.

Bailey worked under Director of On-Campus Recruiting Kayli Johnson during his time with the program. Bailey was originally hired last year and spent 10 months in Ann Arbor.

Prior to arriving at Michigan, Bailey served as the Assistant Director of Recruiting Communications at West Virginia. He also spent time in other roles at Georgia and Georgia Southern.

Michigan will look at adding more help under Johnson in coming months. Johnson is the older sister of former star Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, who is projected to be a first round NFL Draft pick.

Johnson joined the U-M staff last year after serving as the Director of Recruiting Communications at Michigan State.

Michigan currently has three verbal commits in its 2026 recruiting class — On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 37 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.
