Offseason Movement: Michigan loses pair of recruiting staffers
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore made it a point to expand and modernize his recruiting department last offseason, bringing on several new hires.
The Wolverines reassigned Albert Karschnia and promoted Sam Popper to Director of Recruiting. U-M also brought on John Collins and Jack Dunaway as Assistant Directors of Recruiting. Every on-field assistant coach was assigned a recruiting staffer to help with position recruiting.
Two of those staffers are no longer with the program.
Coleman Walker is now the Director of Player Personnel for Washington State, while Cam Hughes is now the Assistant Director of Player Personnel at Jacksonville State.
Walker worked behind the scenes to help Brian Jean-Mary with linebacker recruiting. Prior to arriving at Michigan, Walker spent nearly six years in various roles at NC State.
On the flip side of the coin, Hughes worked directly with Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan and was focused on helping with cornerback recruiting. Prior to arriving at U-M, Hughes worked in the scouting department at Arkansas State. He also worked as a recruiting and scouting intern at East Carolina.
Michigan will look to fill both vacancies this offseason as it prepares to put together a strong 2026 recruiting class.
Michigan currently holds two commitments in the class — On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
