Michigan hosted several recruits for its marquee non-conference matchup against Texas over the weekend.

Here is a closer look at targets the Wolverines now lead for, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

TE Brayden Fogle, Mansfield (Ohio) Lexington (2026)

Michigan hosted Fogle for an unofficial visit in June and extended an offer before the end of summer. The Wolverines were able to get the four-star recruit back on campus for another visit this weekend and moved the needle despite the loss. While U-M has a loaded tight end board for next cycle, Fogle is a prospect the Wolverines are very intrigued by. Fogle, who doubles as a high level basketball player, recently started seeing his recruitment pick up with offers from a handful of P4 programs. Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 76.0 percent chance of landing him.

OL Kannon Smith, Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian (2026)

Michigan extended an offer to Smith during the spring evaluation period and got him on campus for the first time in June. Smith returned for another visit this weekend, and it’s clear the Wolverines have his attention early on. While Smith is not ranked at this time, he is valued by offensive line coach Grant Newsome. Fellow U-M assistant Tony Alford, who has ties to Colorado, is also playing a role in this recruitment. Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 59.8 percent chance of landing him.

EDGE CJ Edwards, Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic (2026)

Edwards is not ranked at this time, but he is a prospect that new Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito took notice of this summer. Esposito dished out an offer in June and got Edwards on campus over the weekend. At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Edwards is a very intriguing prospect with plenty of upside as a pass rusher. Esposito, a fellow New Jersey native, has already established a strong relationship here. Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 72.7 percent chance of landing him.

EDGE Recarder Kitchen, Muskegon (Mich.) High (2027)

Kitchen exploded onto the scene in the initial 2027 rankings drop, with On3 listing him as the No. 2 EDGE and No. 4 overall prospect nationally in his class. Michigan hosted the elite in-state prospect for his first visit this weekend and put an offer on the table before he left campus. Michigan now has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 64.7 percent chance of landing him. The Wolverines have not landed the No. 1 recruit in the state of Michigan since the 2022 recruiting class when they reeled in Will Johnson. Michigan will do whatever it can to keep Kitchen close to home.
