ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines heading to the 2025 NFL Draft are preoccupied with their transition to the pros this spring but also have an eye on what might be happening with the program they leave behind.

Sherrone Moore’s second season at the helm is headlined by the addition of No. 1 overall prospect and quarterback Bryce Underwood, who just began his first spring practice circuit with the program. A handful of Michigan’s potential NFL draftees have either seen portions of practice this week or are aware of what U-M is getting.

“Y’all are in good hands, for sure. I’ll tell you that,” EDGE rusher Josaiah Stewart said on Friday. “Y’all are in good hands. Looks the part. A lot of guys say he’s 6-5, but no, he’s actually 6-5. Has a great zip on the ball. He’s young and athletic, so y’all are in good hands.”

Cornerback Aamir Hall weighed in on Underwood’s abilities and why he thinks Michigan is the place to develop him and reach their goals.

“I think he’s a very good talent, probably one of the best that Michigan has seen in a while,” Hall said. “I feel like that will develop him over the years. I know that they’re very excited about what he can do for this program, so I wish him the best of luck. I feel like the future is bright here with him over the next couple of years to lead the offense.”

Underwood has been praised by Michigan coaches for his work ethic and what he brings from an intangibles standpoint. Hall says he sees that and that he has the ingredients to be an all-timer at the position.

“I feel like he’s a very humble guy,” Hall said. “He attacks every day, just from me being around, just hearing about him. He wasn’t there for long while I was here, but just hearing about him, seeing how he goes about his work, I think that he has the right mindset to be one of the greats in my opinion. So it’s very exciting for him.”

Cornerback Will Johnson has a local bond with Underwood and both were five-star prospects who decided to stay home and carve out a legacy at Michigan.

“Yeah, it meant a lot [to see him stay home]. I mean, that’s great,” Johnson said. “Same reason I came here, come here and leave that legacy of being a Michigan guy, and staying home and winning here. So I think he has a special role on this team, and he’ll do a lot of great things here.”

The early returns have been good, and Johnson sees a prototypical passer coming into the Michigan program this year.

“He looks good, looks real good,” Johnson said. “Everything, everything looks good. That’s the prototypical quarterback, that’s what you want right there. So it’ll be great.”

Offensive tackle Myles Hinton has not met Underwood yet but plans on attending Saturday’s first padded practice of the spring camp to see him in person.

“ I hope he’s good,” Hinton said. ” haven’t really seen him play much, so I can’t give a very valid opinion. But so far I’ve heard he’s a really good player, so I have a belief in him to do well this next year.”
