TAMPA, Fla. – The Michigan Wolverines close out their 2024 season with the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama – the same team it met in the College Football Playoff at the Rose Bowl last year – as it looks to ring out the year on a high note.

Sitting at 7-5, head coach Sherrone Moore and company have some real momentum after a win over Ohio State to close out the year and big gains made on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal. No. 1 overall recruit and quarterback Bryce Underwood headlines the offseason so far, and he has gotten a chance to perform in bowl practices, which has generated a lot of buzz this week.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Chris Balas weigh in on ReliaQuest Bowl week in Tampa, Florida, including how Bryce Underwood has looked in practice, game picks/superlatives and answer your questions.

“Everybody wants to talk about Bryce Underwood and this kid’s massive,” Balas said on the show. “It’s unbelievable how big he is. And I’ve seen him obviously before in a Belleville uniform. When you see him in a Michigan uniform and you see the collegiate quarterback that he’s going to be in that uniform, and he’s not even filled out yet…He’s going to be working with the Michigan strength staff and he’s going to get bigger and stronger. This kid throws the ball extremely well. This kid looks the part, the way he moves the biggest thing obviously is going to be learning.

“Getting him early and having some access to practice and getting him in spring ball is going to obviously be huge because he’s going to play next year flat out. But the one thing that Sherrone Moore said about him today was what a great kid he is and what a leader he is and how the kids all love him and gravitate to him. And that’s not always the case when you get some of these high-profile guys. If you remember what happened at Texas A&M when they were buying players hand over fist, and they were all comparing who got what, and I made more money than you and it got ugly. That has not been the case with Bryce Underwood.”
