The Michigan Wolverines have signed 13 players out of the NCAA transfer portal ahead of the 2025 season, but more could be on the way at a position of need. U-M is after a pair of Notre Dame offensive linemen in Rocco Spindler and Pat Coogan with some optimism at least one will land in Ann Arbor.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Clayton Sayfie discussed the development on a Tuesday morning podcast. Sayfie filled out a way-too-early depth chart on offense this week, and a wide-open battle for snaps illustrated the need for reinforcements in the trenches.

it’s not that easy to fill out the offensive line part,” Sayfie said on the show. “It’s kind of a guessing game at this point. It will change, whether it’s position changes from tackle to guard, or it’s a freshman coming in winning a job or one of the incoming transfers, I had a tough time putting them with the ones right now just because. I don’t think they come here from a lower level and automatically win a job. It’s a way too early depth chart, so nobody’s won a job yet, but I think they got some work to do to.

“It’s pretty open. I would think tackle would be something you would want to look at maybe in the spring when there are more options. And then one of these two interior guys right now, if you could land them, I think would be big. My question is can they go through spring practices given that it’s January 28th right now. Classes tarted weeks ago, the add/drop date was last week at Michigan. So will it impact Spring Ball at all? Will they be able to get on campus and get acclimated? Those sorts of things are big questions for me, but regardless, I think even in the spring, if you could bring them in the spring, summer, those would be solid additions.”

Also discussed was some other takeaways from Sayfie’s Michigan offensive depth chart, men’s basketball following up a loss at Purdue with a win Monday vs. Penn State and questions from our subscribers on The Fort.
