“ It’s not a battle with Jadyn Davis, the backup in the spring game, but it will be maybe a battle with Mikey Keene, who has taken 2,000 something snaps at this level,” Balas said on the show. “But he’s gonna win it. You’re right. Bryce Underwood is the best, most physically impressive quarterback on the team. I don’t think there’s any question about that.
“The ball is effortless when it gets there, and it gets there so quickly. And the receivers on a stop route, a couple of times they turn around, that ball is there, you can almost hear it from the press box whizzing down there. So he had a couple throws he would want back. He had Channing Goodwin wide open in the middle of the field and he overthrew him by about 10 yards out of the back of the end. There was a strong wind coming from the north, which he’s going to have to get used to. JJ McCarthy had to get used to that when he was at Michigan. And he did and he got better.

“He also had a beautiful throw down the right sideline to Jamar Brower, the true freshman off his hands that would’ve gone for probably 40 yards. That was a dime. And then he had some great throws to tight end Jalen Hoffman, who was really impressive… You could tell by the way he was catching the ball that this kid’s gonna have an opportunity, too.”
