The Michigan Wolverines have wrapped spring ball after Saturday’s split-squad scrimmage, a 17-0 Blue victory over the Maize squad. Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood was the headlining topic and what we led the Monday show with.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss Michigan football’s spring camp and how it closed with the Blue team’s 17-0 win over the Maize on Saturday.

“The ball gets there in a hurry, fellas,” Balas said on the show. “It reminds you of JJ McCarthy throwing balls, right? You throw an out and the ball is there. It’s not taking forever to get there. He made some really good decisions, too, on passes that weren’t there. So you put it where either only your receiver can catch it or it’s going to be incomplete. He had one bad throw. You’re gonna have a few interceptions with a young guy.

“He is gonna be the starting quarterback. I’ll go on record now and say it. There’s not a whole lot of competition. Everybody was talking about Jadynn Davis’s improvement.. he was 6-of-17 with two picks. Both of ’em really bad picks, too. So you’re gonna go, you’re gonna live and die with Bryce Underwood.

“So to me it was more about watching his protection on the offensive line and you can tell with some one-on-one matchups how guys are faring. And it was basically what we’d heard during the spring from our sources that there are a lot of guys that need a lot of work. Left tackle is going to be an issue. So hopefully they give him some help upfront. It doesn’t look like they’re gonna get it in the portal at this point, so they’re gonna have to really improve.

“But this guy is the real deal. He is gonna win a lot of football games here.”
