The Michigan Wolverines landed a commitment from the prize of the transfer portal period to this point in UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg, who could be a star in one more collegiate season. However, the NBA Draft looms as a possibility despite the pledge to come to Ann Arbor.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Clayton Sayfie and Chris Balas discuss the commitment of Yaxel Lendeborg and if it will stick, the rest of Michigan’s roster needs and portal targets and more.

”He’s a really good player, which is why I think a lot of people in the NBA are coveting him now,” Sayfie said. “A lot of the top second-round guys get guaranteed contracts too. So if he’s in that group after the combine, if he gets invited to the combine, all those sorts of things, then maybe he goes then as well. It’s kind of an interesting one because you don’t know if Michigan’s gonna get him. This could be a very short-lived era at Michigan. We might be joking in five to 10 years about the graphic of him committing, depending on how he works out in the NBA, but regardless of whether he does come back to school, and I think that’s a real possibility, it’s a huge, huge pickup for Michigan.

“You kind of have the 6-9 versions of Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin with him and Morez Johnson Jr., the Illinois transfer. It’s impressive. When Michigan used to recruit guys and then Kansas would be in the top group or Kentucky, and now Arkansas, you’ve got the Tyson Chicken money and John Calipari there and some of these other schools, Duke and North Carolina, too, you’d be like, all right, shoot. He’s on their radar. It’s probably not gonna work out now. I used to think like there’s a storm coming and this isn’t gonna work.

“Now, Michigan is the storm.”
