Sherrone Moore updates injured Wolverines, talks potential OL shakeup
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said the bye week came at a great time for Michigan, not just because of injuries but due to the time change heading out to Washington. The Wolverines got back from Seattle at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning after game day and needed the week to rest, relax, and get better.
The Wolverines who missed the game with the Huskies — left tackle Myles Hinton, center Dom Giudice, defensive end Derrick Moore, and linebacker Jimmy Rolder — are all on the road to recovery, Moore said Monday.
“It was a good time for everybody, refreshing,” Moore said of the bye week. “Coaches were on the road recruiting. It was good … it looks like they’re all trending in the right direction. I feel good about them. I think they’ll all practice today. I feel like we’re in a good place with them all.”
Two who aren’t yet — safety Rod Moore and defensive back Ja’Den McBurrows. Sources tell us McBurrows suffered a serious lower leg injury, and Moore confirmed he’d be out a while. Some have continued to hold out hope for Moore’s late season return after he torn an ACL this spring, but Moore couldn’t shed much insight other than “we’ll see.”
“Still progressing,” Moore said. “I can’t really speak on the exact timeline or the date, but he’s still progressing in a good way. [McBurrows] looks like it [will be a while]. We’ll just keep [talking] with the doctors.”

As for the offensive line — some struggles at Washington, but Moore was pleased with how veteran Greg Crippen played at center. Hinton will start at left tackle if healthy, as expected, but right tackle seems to be up for grabs.
“If Myles is back, he’ll start. We’ll see at right tackle,” Moore said. “I thought Crip did a really good job … a really good job controlling the line of scrimmage with the calls, especially in that environment. Being pretty calm. He’s been a guy that’s traveled to different places, seen it. It looks like he’ll cement himself there and continue to work there. We’ll see what happens with Dom.
“[Jeff] Persi gave some great experience being an older guy. It gives us a challenge at the other spot (right tackle) to see what he can do. There’s always competition.”
All will likely travel to Illinois for Saturday’s 3:30 game. We’ll find out then who is playing an where on the line.
