Sights and sounds from Michigan football's massive recruiting visit weekend

Michigan Wolverines football hosted a slew of top-tier 2024 recruits on official visits over the weekend, including a pair of five-stars in Chicago St. Ignatius defensive tackle Justin Scott and St. Louis (Mo.) University wide receiver Ryan Wingo.

The weekend already led to the commitment of Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star defensive lineman Owen Wafle, a former Notre Dame pledge. The Maize and Blue currently have the sixth-ranked class nationally, with 18 prospects already in the fold, but are looking to add to it.

Here’s a look at some top social media sights and sounds from the weekend.

Five-star DT Justin Scott, Chicago St. Ignatius

The No. 8 overall player in the country per the On3 Industry Rankings is also considering Miami, Notre Dame and Georgia, but his time in Ann Arbor appeared to go extremely well.

The photo making the rounds on social media over the weekend was the one below featuring Scott, Harper Woods (Mich.) High four-star defensive back commit Jacob Oden, Chicago Kenwood Academy four-star wide receiver I’Marion Stewart and Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale four-star EDGE Dominic Nichols.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Michigan is already the leader for Stewart, who’s set a June 16 decision date, and Nichols. Oden is already a pledge and has put his recruiting hat on over the last several months.

Five-star WR Ryan Wingo, St. Louis (Mo.) University

Wingo, the nation’s No. 5 receiver, snapped a photo with Scott.

The RPM has Georgia as the leader to land the elite wideout.

Four-star CB Bryce West, Cleveland Glenville

Bryce West, nation’s No. 54 overall player is an Ohio State lean, but Michigan remains in the mix.

West went through his photo shoots wearing the No. 2 jersey, currently assigned to sophomore cornerback Will Johnson. 1997 Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson is most known for donning that digit.

West, Oden and Chattanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd four-star athlete Boo Carter also took some photos together at The Big House, each wearing a different color Michigan jersey.

Four-star S Jordon Johnson-Rubell, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Johnson-Rubell is another highly-touted defensive back recruit on campus. He’s ranked the No. 148 overall player in the 2024 class.

Along with Michigan co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale and safeties coach Jay Harbaugh, Johnson-Rubell, Carter, Oden and West all took photos together at The Big House.

Texas is the heavy favorite for Johnson-Rubbell, per the RPM, but TCU, Ohio State and the Wolverines are all in play.

Four-star OT Bennett Warren, Sugar Land (Texas) Fort Bend Christian Academy

Bennett Warren recently named a top four of Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas A&M, but the Wolverines are widely considered the leader in his recruitment.

Warren has already taken Michigan offensive coordinator and line coach Sherrone Moore‘s “smash” mantra to heart, posing with the assistant coach in front of construction machinery during his visit.

Boo Carter, Chattanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd

Carter will announce his decision June 17, and Michigan has given him a lot to think about despite Tennessee having made a strong NIL pitch, per The Wolverine’s EJ Holland. The RPM has the Volunteers as major favorites heading into his announcement.

Four-star EDGE Elias Rudolph, Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High

Elias Rudolph was already predicted by Holland and our Zach Libby to go to Michigan heading into his visit, and there’s plenty of positive buzz coming out of it.

He brought his family along and appeared to enjoy his time in Ann Arbor.

Four-star EDGE Dominic Nichols, Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale

Michigan is the leader for Nichols per the RPM, over Penn State, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Nichols posed for some photos alongside Scott and Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield three-star defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale.

Three-star DL Deyvid Palepale, Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield

Palepale is a heavy Michigan lean, per the RPM.

Three-star RB Micah Ka’apana, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman

The three-star prospect is likely to end up in Michigan’s class, per the RPM. He’d join Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller four-star Jordan Marshall as running backs in the group.
