The Wolverine’s EJ Holland sat down with On300 Kilgore (Texas) High cornerback Jayden Sanders to talk about signing with Michigan and more.

Sanders Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Sanders in early June and immediately made him a top priority at the cornerback position.

The Wolverines were able to get Sanders on campus for an unofficial visit in June and got him back on campus for the BBQ at The Big House in July. It was there where U-M cemented itself as the team to beat in his recruitment.

Sanders committed to Michigan the following month and signed with the Wolverines on Thursday.

Here is what Holland had to say about Sanders.

“Sanders is another great pickup for new Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan,” Holland said. “While he didn’t have much Power Four experience before his arrival in Ann Arbor, Morgan has delivered on the recruiting trail. Sanders was at the very top of the cornerback board, and Morgan closed. In Sanders, he is getting a tall, long corner with plenty of upside. Remember, Sanders was a big riser in the recent rankings update.”

At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Sanders is ranked as the No. 22 cornerback and No. 169 overall recruit nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
