Some Michigan football players are taking some time at home, working out there, while others have remained in Ann Arbor. All, though, appear firmly committed to being the best they can be to help their team this fall.
Braiden McGregor is one of them. The senior edge came on strong last year and could have had an even bigger year, he knows.
“Pretty much what I have to do is finish my opportunities,” McGregor told Jon Jansen on the In the Trenches Podcast. “I talked to coach [Mike] Elston a lot about it this year. I had so many opportunities this year, especially in the first three games, I could have had four sacks in the first three games, and I just missed it, or was going too fast. I think this all comes with maturity and playing … slowing down and making sure I make the play rather than going for the big hit or going for the strip sack, making sure you get the quarterback secured first.
“So, I think that’s a big thing I’ve worked on this offseason. I’m just making sure I’m focused more on the guy in front of me; making sure I’m hitting the [lineman’s] hands. It’s just the little details now of just really locking into that. I feel I’ll be able to be where I want to be.”
